No. 477 / Be tough.

Just at the shadowy edges of your preparation, the shuddering blow is waiting to fall. The worst of it comes when you’re hurt and tired, when technique and conditioning can do no more. The real test won’t prove what you’re ready for, but what you’re made of. When it comes, your core will be split and unravelled, fibrous and knotted though it may be. You’ll be naked, broken, and alone. When the real test comes, there will be nothing left of you… except two words ringing defiantly through hollow doubt: I can!

Happiness isn’t a reward. Strength isn’t gained without effort. Love isn’t something you get from someone else. Life is made bearable in the bearing of it. The meaning of life reveals itself when you stop looking for it and start living with sincerity. Fulfillment will come at last when you have given all that you have.
